Michael Salako, a 40-year-old man, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for supposedly beating a motorcyclist, who refused to give him a ride hence resulting in his death.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, revealed in a statement on Sunday that the suspect was nabbed following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Lafenwa Divisional Headquarters, on the day of the incident that an Okada rider had been beaten to death.
The PPRO stated, “Upon the distress call, the DPO, CSP Samuel Aladegoroye, mobilised his men and moved to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to have known the deceased in their community, informed the police that he asked the motorcyclist to convey him somewhere with his motorcycle the previous day and the deceased refused.
“He stated further that when he saw him the following day, he was trying to ask him the reasons for refusing to convey him to his destination the previous day and the altercation resulted in a fight between them.
“While the fight was going on, the deceased collapsed and passed away. The corpse of the victim, simply identified as Abudu, has been deposited in the morgue for autopsy”
This incident happened last Wednesday on Sanni Street, Lafenwa, Abeokuta.
