Media King and Chief Executive Officer of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu has reacted to reports from the Cable News Network (CNN) on Davido’s generous donation to Orphanages in Nigeria
Recall that days ago, Davido asked his friends and fans to donate a million naira each to him for his birthday which totaled over N201million in two days.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the singer announced that he would be adding N50m to the N201m and donating it to orphanages across Nigeria. He also appointed a Five- man committee that will disburse the funds.
This great gesture did not only draw media attention but also increased the widespread respect his peers and contemporaries have for him.
In respect to this, international media outlet Cable Network News (CNN) while reporting the latest development referred to him as a Nigerian-American
“Nigerian-American musician Davido has announced he will donate more than $600,000 to orphanages across Nigeria, after hosting an impromptu online appeal that initially sparked amusement and confusion from his fans.” they wrote.
In response, Dele Momodu criticized CNN for referring to the Singer as an American and not just a Nigerian after his benevolent contributions to society.
He however admits that everyone would like to identify with Davido globally which led to the American news outlet to put efforts to share the glory of his good deeds.
