The Lagos Police Command in collaboration with sister agencies on Wednesday held a show of force across the state in preparation to enforce the ban of Okada in additional local government areas in the state.
The officers from Nigerian Army, LNSC, LASTMA and Federal Road Safety Corps converged on the command’s headquarters, Ikeja, before heading out for the show of force.
This development is coming following the ban of okada in additional four local government in the state.
The four LGAs and the LCDAs under them were Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA in Kosofe, Isolo LCDA, Ejigbo LCDA in Ishodi, Bariga LCDA, Shomolu and Odi- Olowo LCDA in Mushin.
The command stated that in readiness for the September 1 commencement of enforcement of total ban on motorcycles in the state, security agencies embarked on a show-of-force.
Spokesperson for the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said, “Total enforcement on motorcycles commences in additional four LGAs on September 1, 2022 and the command in readiness embarked on a show of force.”
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, has however warned that violators of the ban would be promptly arrested and prosecuted.
“Law abiding citizens are enjoined to go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment or intimidation,” he stated.
