The name of the factional People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, is missing in the list of candidates releassed by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC)..
Also missing is the name of his running mate, Adekunle Akinlade.
Thirteen political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nominated candidates for the governorship seat but only 12 of them had their candidates listed.
The APC, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Social Democratic Congress (SDP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), African Democratic Party (ADP), Allied People’s Movement (APM), APP, A, AA and AAC have names of their candidates listed for the 2023 governorship race.
Labour Party (LP) does not have governorship candidate.
It is not year clear if the names of Adebutu and Akinlade of the PDP were yanked off the list by INEC following a recent court judgement delivered by a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, which nullified primaries by Ogun State PDP.
The court also directed the PDP to conduct fresh primaries in the State to accommodate all interests.
It further directed INEC not to recognise Ladi Adebutu as governorship candidate of PDP in the State in respect of 2023 governorship election.
