Cristiano Ronaldo could be offered a way out of Manchester United by Chelsea in the January window.
In the summer, it was reported that the Stamford Bridge club’s new owner, Todd Boehly was interested in bringing Ronaldo to club.
However, then-manager Thomas Tuchel was not so keen on the idea. Therefore, the club never made a move for the Portuguese legend.
Now, with Tuchel sacked and Graham Potter in, Boehly could revive his interest in United’s want-away star. Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford has been thrown into disarray after he walked off and left the stadium before the final whistle against Tottenham Hotspur.
It was later revealed that Ronaldo refused to come on as a sub and as a result, was dropped from the first-team squad for Saturday evening’s clash against Chelsea.
According to sunday world, Chelsea could offer Ronaldo a short-term deal in January in order for him to escape from Old Trafford.
It is also believed that Ronaldo and United will discuss a solution to the ongoing transfer drama in the next 48 hours.
Ever since the incident earlier in the week, Ronaldo has been heavily criticised for his actions.
Former United player Gary Neville stated that the saga needs to end as soon as possible.
He said on Sky Sports: “This needs to end now. There aren’t many Manchester United fans who would now have Ronaldo in their starting eleven. They are better without him – they score more goals without him and they win more points without him.
Manchester United are a better team without him.
“For me, Erik ten Hag had no other option. That’s the second time Ronaldo has left Old Trafford before his teammates have got into the changing room. That is unacceptable.”
Neville added: “When you look at whether Ronaldo should be selected, which is obviously Ronaldo’s main problem at this moment in time – that he’s not playing – as great a player as he’s been, Manchester United are better without him.
“Erik ten Hag knows that, so I think the only thing the club and Ronaldo can do is get together in this next week or so and end the relationship. Cristiano is too good a player, too fantastic a character and the club have got to move on.”
Will Ronaldo leave United in January? Only time will tell.
