The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed that five officers have been apprehended for allegedly extorting a student named Ibrahim of his school fees along the RCC, Old Ogbomoso Road, Oyo State.
The police officers confronted the student as he was traveling to Lagos. He was told to get out of the car, while the other passengers were told to keep going. According to reports, they took him to a nearby bush and demanded N90,000 from him there.
Adewale Osifeso, the spokesperson for the state police command, claims that the investigation is still ongoing.
Osifeso wrote,
“We have arrested and detained five police officers; we are awaiting Ibrahim’s arrival to identify the detained officers who allegedly did what he claimed they did to him and to assist us in initiating the prosecution process against those officers through an orderly room trial.
“The money that was taken from him has been found; We identified the account’s operator and the endpoint where the money was deposited. All of that took place today.
