The National Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) collection deadline has been extended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The nation’s electoral body announced that the collection of PVCs will now continue until Sunday, January 29, 2023, rather than on Sunday, January 22, 2023.
Festus Okoye, INEC’s National Commissioner and chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, made this information public in a statement. He said that the Commission was determined to make sure that registered voters would have ample time to collect their PVCs in time for the upcoming general elections.
According to Okoye, the Commission was encouraged by the rise in the number of PVCs collected nationwide and the participation of registered voters.
He mentioned that, since the beginning of the devolution of PVC collection to the ward level on Saturday, January 6, 2023, as many as 100,000 PVCs had been collected in some states in the previous five days.
