Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, has urged Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, to accept defeat during the ongoing recount of Saturday’s election.
Fayose, a member of the same political party as the Presidential Candidate, advised Atiku to take a break and relocate to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates while pleading with him to show maturity by accepting defeat.
This was made clear by the former governor of Ekiti in a tweet that he sent out on Monday evening under his verified Twitter handle.
“Our candidate, H.E. Atiku Abubakar (aka “Atiku is coming”) should accept defeat with maturity and retire peacefully to Dubai,” read the tweet. Permit me to say goodbye to everyone you represent at this point.
In the meantime, due to ongoing collation, the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, has yet to announce the election’s winner.
Atiku is trailing the APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite winning some states in some of the released results.
