Mr. Yakubu Dogara, the current Speaker of the House of Representatives, has unexpectedly endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidacy of Air Marshall Sadiq Baba Abubakar (rtd) for the governorship election in Bauchi State next week.
Dogara was in charge of a campaign team that was led by Air Marshall Sadiq Baba Abubakar and traveled to several local governments in Bauchi, including Kirfi and Alkaleri, where Governor Bala Mohammed was from. There, he urged the people to follow the path of honor by voting out Bala Mohammed.
Addressing a mammoth horde of allies in Alkaleri Neighborhood Government Area of Bauchi State on Wednesday , Dogara kept up with that the state is covetous of an adjustment of initiative.
Said he: ” We came to tell you the truth: the leadership in Bauchi State needs to change. Even though your son, Governor Mohammed, is present, I am here to inform you that since he is not doing well, we should change him. I urge you all to vote on Saturday for Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar.
He said that Air Marshall Abubakar would help the people of Bauchi State like a father would.
It should be recalled that Dogara endorsed and delivered Shehu Buba, the APC candidate for the Bauchi South Senatorial District and Jafaru Leko, the APC candidate for his Federal Constituency of Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa.
The former Speaker is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and a member of the party’s presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council.
In 2019, he helped prepared and drove an alliance of ideological groups and vested parties in Bauchi which expelled previous lead representative Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and introduced Congressperson Bala Mohammed in 2019.
However, shortly after the elections, governor Bala Mohammed broke all of the political agreements he had made before the elections and declared political war on prominent citizens of the state who disagreed with his style of governance, such as Dogara and an elderly statesman named Alhaji Bello Kirfi, who served as a minister under president Shehu Shagari in the second Republic.
