Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Friday assured the people of Ijesha land that, there is no going back by his administration to establish the University of Ilesha, stating that the institution would be built on solid ground to make it a sustainable one.
He, however, appealed to people of the town while on inspection to the citadel of learning in Ilesha that he would not want anybody to rush him on the university issue, adding that having been established, the University has come to stay.
“My goal is to ensure that the University is properly established just as the PDP government under Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola did on the establishment of the Osun State University.
The review committee on the subject has submitted its report and I am issuing a white paper”.
He said, “I want to build the University of Ilesa on solid ground and as a sustainable institution.
That is why I form a committee and the committee did a great job.
The reason for coming here today is to let you know the students, the staff and of course Ijesa people that we mean the business.”
“This is the time for everything, Osun people will keep smiling and dancing. When it comes to working, everybody will involve”.
“I am here to assess the actual state of the University of Ilesa and rub mind with our people on moving Ijeshaland forward.
Let me remind Ijesa people that I was the first to propose an upgrade of College of Education to University of Ilesa.
I made the promise at the Palace of the Kabiyesi Owa of Ijesaland during the 2018 elections.”
“We all know that Mr Oyetola for three years did nothing on the university until the approach of the 2022 elections.
My predecessor rushed the establishment of the University as a political project.”

In his own remark, Professor Taiwo Ashaolu, Chairman Review committee of the university said, “the process of appointment must follow the extant law, the university should commence with eight faculties, namely; Education and vocational technology, Management Sciences, Social sciences, Science, Technology and Innovations, Humanities and Cultures, Agriculture and Agric Business and Basic Medical Sciences. ”
“Among the recommendations, all the existing staff both academic and non-teaching of Osun State College of Education Ilesha are to be transited to the university. Recruitment process shall be by advertisement in national newspapers and other mediums. ”
“An institute of education should be established under the faculty of education in the university to oversee the completion of the programme of the current students.”
“For smooth running of the university, multiple sources of income is hereby recommended.
The tuition fee for the school should be affordable,” he concluded.
