Thousands of Ijebu Igbo, Ogun state residents marched to the home of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu to observe Eid-el-Fitr with recently newly elected member of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Abdul Rasheed Kashamu.
Rasheed Kashamu, the child of the late humanitarian and lawmaker, as he won a seat at the state assembly.
He will represent Ijebu North State Constituency 1 and is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The younger Kashamu, who has been hosting the people since 2020, threw open the gates to the expansive family compound in order to carry on the father’s legacy.
In honor of Eid al-Fitr, thousands of adults, children, and adolescents received gifts.
Packages of rice, noodles, and cash were distributed to the exuberant crowd.
They lavished praise on the young philanthropist for following in his father’s footsteps.
Kashamu performed Salat al-Eid earlier in the day at the Muslim Praying Ground in Oke Alafia, where he was also greeted by a large number of supporters.
The 26-year-old said in his message to his constituents, ” On the occasion of this year’s Eid El Fitr, which marks the end of the Ramadan fast, I would like to extend my congratulations to you all, my brothers and sisters, and especially to the Muslim Ummah in Ijebu North Constituency 1.
“May the All-Powerful Allah reward all of our sacrifices, and I urge us to lead lives of exemplary character that are worthy of imitation.”
Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
The special day is observed over the first three days of Shawwal, the Islamic calendar’s tenth month.
