Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), DSTV, and MT have been identified as the most admired African companies in 2022 according to the report of Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands. Brand Africa was established in 2010, to inspire a brand-led African renaissance to enhance competitiveness, and foster connectivity within the continent, thus creating a positive image of Africa.
The Dangote brand has been recognized as the most admired African brand among the top 100 brands on the continent for the sixth consecutive year.
Telecommunications giant MT secured the second position, while Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) took the third spot.
Both MT and DSTV originate from South Africa.
Additionally, the Dangote brand was acknowledged as the number one African Pride Brand, with Ethiopian Airlines and MT following closely behind.
In a newly introduced category, Dangote ranked second in sustainability, recognizing brands that contribute positively to people, society, and the environment.
Brand Africa, in its statement unveiling the rankings, identified UNICEF as the leading NGO and Coca-Cola as the top non-African brand. African brands accounted for only 14 percent of the top 100 most admired brands in Africa, as non-African brands continued to solidify their position on the continent.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief of Branding and Communication at Dangote Industries Limited, expressed satisfaction with the awards, stating that they were well-deserved.
He emphasized that the Dangote brand evoked strong nationalistic sentiments and a sense of industrialization, self-sufficiency, prosperity, power, and production across the continent.
Chiejina further highlighted the recent commissioning of the 650,000 bpd Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemical complex, which he described as a significant industrial achievement.
