The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele.
It was gathered that on Friday reported the arrest of Emefiele by DSS shortly after he was suspended by President Bola Tinubu.
But on Saturday, the Services, on its Twitter handle said Emefiele was not in its custody.
But DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya confirmed to our source on Saturday that Emefiele was arrested in Lagos, saying that a statement would be issued soon.
The Department of State Services (DSS) says the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, is now in finally its custody.
This is contained in a statement issued by DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya and obtained by @goldmynetv on Saturday afternoon.
It reads: “The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.
However, sources close to the suspended CB governor said he had been detained at the DSS office in Ikoyi, Lagos.
