Burna Boy has received four nominations in the 2023 edition of the Black Entertainment Television, BET, Awards.
The multi-award-winning singer will face off against other foreign performers in the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist category, including Drake, Chris Brown, The Weekend, and Usher, according to a list that BET issued on its social media accounts.
Burna Boy will compete in the Video Director of the Year category alongside Asap Rocky, Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar, Director X, and others for his work on the visual interpretation of the massive smash single “Last Last”.
The self-proclaimed African giant received two additional nominations for the song “Last Last” in the Viewers’ Choice category as well as for Best International Act.
Another Grammy-winning Nigerian musician, Tems, has received three nominations, including one for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.
For their joint work on the song “Wait for You,” which is up for Best Collaboration and Viewer’s Choice honours, Tems has also earned two shared nominations with Future and Drake.
She also received two joint nominations from Future and Drake for her contribution to the song “Wait for You,” which is up for Best Collaboration and Viewers’ Favorite.
Each of Asake and Ayra Starr received a nomination.
Ayra Starr will compete against Burna Boy in the best international act category, while Asake will compete in the viewers’ choice category for the best new international talent.
The Black Entertainment Television network hosts the BET Awards, an annual awards ceremony that honours black artists in the fields of music, movies, sports, and philanthropy.
