The Association of Bureau De Change (BDC) Operators, Abuja Chapter, has announced the indefinite closure of their business premises starting from Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Chairman of the association, Abdullahi Dauran, disclosed this on Wednesday night.
Dauran blamed the situation on the scarcity of the United States’ currency, the dollar.
He added that online banking transactions and cryptocurrency were also behind of the scarcity of the dollar.
It was gathered that, the naira fell to an all-time low of N1,520 per dollar on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Senate has summoned the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso, over the worsening naira/dollar exchange rate.
