Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Edo State on Monday, took to the streets of Benin City to protest the current economic hardship affecting Nigerians.
Protesters, carrying various placards with messages such as “End Economic Hardship” and “FG End the Hunger in Nigeria Now,” expressed their grievances during the procession.
The demonstration in Benin City follows similar protests in Ibadan and Lagos, where residents expressed dissatisfaction with the soaring food prices and the high cost of living.
.
Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) recently announced plans to stage a nationwide protest starting tomorrow.
The NLC’s decision to protest stems from the government’s alleged failure to implement agreements reached on October 2, 2023, following the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The 14-day ultimatum issued by the NLC to address widespread hardship has prompted various groups and individuals to express their discontent through peaceful demonstrations nationwide.
