In another wave of violence, Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly attacked the Gajibo village in the Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, leaving devastation in their wake.
The incident comes merely 48 hours after the terrorist group kidnapped over 100 displaced persons from another village in the region.
According to sources, the militants descended on Gajibo village, firing indiscriminately and subsequently setting fire to 25 newly built houses.
The attackers are said to have planted explosives, hindering any further construction efforts aimed at housing returning displaced persons.
Kaka Goni, a resident of the affected village, revealed, “More than 25 houses have been burnt down” during the onslaught by the insurgents.
The exact extent of casualties or injuries resulting from the attack is yet to be confirmed.
The insurgents had earlier kidnapped dozens of women about 24 hours ago.
