A chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso has called on patriotic stakeholders in the North to ignore critics of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and support his efforts to carry the country to the promise land.
Speaking in an interview, Kwankwaso said the support became necessary because President Tinubu gave his maximum support to former President Muhammadu Buhari throughout his eight year tenure.
Kwankwaso who condemned the recent protest against the Minister of State for Defense, Dr. Bello Matawalle, described the development as negative antics,
targeted at President Tinubu, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Abdullahi Ganduje and other leading politicians of the ruling party.
Dr.Kwankwaso , a former three- time commissioner for rural and community development in Kano state, however
said those going on social media to rein insults on the presidents were only doing disservice to the nation and misleading the public.
He said some politicians who were “disgruntled elements” were quite when former President Muhammad Buhari, was in government, for good eight years.
He however appealed to the elders in the North to be focussed and work hand in hand with the governor’s of the region to bring dividend of democracy to the region as President Tinubu would always be there for them.
“Within the last one year of being in office he has achieved a lot but mischievously those attacking him closed their eyes against the achievements. Would they tell us they were not in the country? Why do they decided not to talk then, but now that the power shifted to the South, they were now mounting various unsubstantiated criticisms against President Tinubu who had supported Buhari all through his tenure,” he said.
He recalled that “there were agreements in the past that led to the merger that founded the ruling APC as a strong political party in the country, which began with the emergence of President Buhari.”
He explained that the same agreement was what led to the emergence of Tinubu as president and he fulfilled his part of the agreement satisfactorily by making all the necessary agreements.
