A fresh cholera outbreak has left seven people in Kirikasamma Local Government Area and its environs dead.
Several other residents from communities in the LGA have also been hospitalised due to the disease outbreak.
The Primary Healthcare Coordinator of Kirikasamma LGA, Musa Abdullahi Diladige, who confirmed the outbreak said that the disease has affected residents of several communities including Malori, Maikintari, Dilmari, Kirikasamma, and parts of Baturiya village.
Diladige explained that symptoms of the disease include diarrhoea, cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever.
Also speaking, the Head of the Department of Water and Sanitation, Muhammad Maisamari, noted that some health workers have been deployed to the affected communities for necessary medical services.
In addition to the efforts put in place, the LG council has purchased drugs and medical commodities for the treatment of the disease.
The Director of Administration and General Services, Idris Gambo Abubakar, pledged to provide all necessary assistance to tackle the spread of the disease.
