The police command in Ogun says it has arrested fleeing suspect in an alleged murder case and rituals, Kehinde Yemitan, the twin brother of Taiwo Yemitan who had earlier been arrested.
SP Omolola Odutola, the Command’s Spokesperson disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Odutola noted that the Divisional Police Officer, Sango Ota received a tip at 5:00p.m indicating that the fleeing suspect was hiding in the Ilogbo community.
She explained that following the information, a surveillance team, in collaboration with the So Safe Corps, promptly mobilized to the community and apprehended the suspect.
”He admitted to conspiring with others to carry out the crime in Abeokuta. Several community members also confirmed his involvement in criminal activities.
”Kehinde Yemitan has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation,” she said.
Odutola re-emphasised the dangers of the hook up culture of which the Police Public Relations Department in Ogun has been raising public awareness about the risk associated with it
She noted that more updates would be made available as soon as it becomes apparent.
”A further appeal goes to the teeming young females to see this unfortunate incident as a big lesson and be cautious not to fall victim to another ritual killing,” she said.
The police had on December 22 arrested Taiwo Yemitan, a suspected ritualist found with a fresh human head and dismembered body parts of a female victim in Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.
Odutola explained that the 45-year-old suspect was arrested at 1:40a.m on Sunday, December 22 in his home behind Atinsola petrol station, Sanni in Abeokuta.
She disclosed that the police acted on a tip off from the state local security outfits, the Agbekoya and the Vigilante operatives before the suspect was arrested.
”The suspect admitted to knowing the deceased identified as Darasimi, who he lured to his residence with the intent to kill her.
”He confessed to the murder, naming two other individuals, Kehinde Yemitan and one Kazeem, second name unknown as accomplice in the criminal act.
”Their intention was to sell the victims head and other body parts,” he said.
The police spokesperson explained that the dismembered body was taken to the general hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta morgue for Post mortem examination.
Odutola warned young ladies to stop “hookup” and be contended, saying that high number of girls on “hookup” are slaughtered for rituals.
