The Traditional Council of Atikori, led by the Oba of Atikori, Alayeluwa Oba Ibitoye Solaja, JP visited Oke Moje Area in Atikori to address the community about the prohibition of marijuana (Weed, Igbo) sales and use.
Oba Ibitoye Solaja with his chiefs sternly warned that severe penalties would be imposed on anyone caught selling or smoking marijuana (Weed, Igbo), regardless of whether they are from the community or outsiders.
The Oba and his chiefs emphasized that offenders would face the consequences of their actions, and no interventions or pleadings on their behalf would be tolerated.
The traditional leaders are determined to eradicate marijuana (Weed, Igbo) use in atikori community.
“The traditional ruler’s decision is reportedly a response to a recent incident that occurred in the area”.

According to a report by MarvelTvUpdates, a tragic event involving the death of an apprentice and his boss led to chaos in the environment, prompting the traditional ruler to take action”.
“The CEO of Kakaki Foundation, Owoseni Ridwan a notable son of Atikori, strongly condemned the incident and urged the youth to refrain from engaging in drug abuse and other vices that can ruin their lives. He advised the young people to focus on acquiring skills through vocational training or formal education, emphasizing the importance of becoming productive members of society”.
