A disturbing incident unfolded in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, when a young woman named Lara was brutally attacked by a mob after displaying unusual behavior at Itale Oke Agbo. Passersby initially responded with aggression, stealing her phone and beating her.
Fortunately, local security personnel and Comrade Hammed Bonojo, Secretary of Oke Agbo Youth Development Association, intervened to stop the mob.
According to Comrade Lateef Ajibise, NYCN General Secretary, Ijebu North Chapter, in a statement to MarvelTvUpdates, Lara’s family promptly arrived on the scene, and the local security team ensured her safe return home.
Initially, speculation swirled that Lara had fallen victim to money rituals. However, her parents clarified that she has a pre-existing mental health condition that had not received adequate medical attention. Lara is now receiving local treatment to address her condition.
This incident highlights the urgent need for mental health awareness and support in our communities. We must show empathy and understanding toward those struggling with mental distress. Rather than resorting to violence or mob action, we should offer kindness, assistance, and seek proper intervention.
Community leaders are urged to advocate for mental health awareness and support systems to help individuals in need. Let’s strive to create a society where everyone, regardless of their mental state, is treated with dignity and care.
