There was tension at a Lagos Magistrate Court on Tuesday as policemen from the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja stormed the premises to re-arrest popular TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Seaking, over his controversial videos allegedly targeted at the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Seaking, who was already at the court to answer charges in a separate trial earlier instituted by the police, faced fresh attempts by the FID officers to apprehend him within the court premises.
Reports indicate that the latest arrest is linked to accusations of cyberbullying and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace over his social media videos criticising the revered cleric.
Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, condemned the move, urging the police to desist from the planned arrest.
“The Police Team is advised to refrain from rearresting Olumide Ogunsanwo and to vacate the premises of the courthouse,” Sowore stated, describing the action as oppressive.
This is not the first time Seaking has found himself at odds with the law. In December 2024, he was arrested for alleged cyberstalking, treason, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace following videos criticising President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He was later rearrested in February 2025 over allegations of cyberbullying Pastor Adeboye, with the police acting on a petition reportedly filed by Paul James Adama on behalf of a Christian association.
The police had then claimed that a petition was submitted by Paul James Adama, representing a Christian association, on behalf of the Pastor.
