The management of Fuji star Saheed Osupa has announced plans to file a lawsuit against street-hop singer Portable over the alleged unauthorized use of Osupa’s song and cyberbullying.
In a statement issued by Digital Music Commerce and Exchange Ltd (DMCE), the agency handling Osupa’s music rights, the management expressed concern over Portable’s actions, noting that while unauthorized use of Osupa’s songs has occurred in the past, such matters were usually resolved amicably—until Portable’s involvement.
The statement read:
“Setting the Record Straight: Protecting King Saheed Osupa’s Intellectual Property Rights.
“To our valued fans and supporters, we are addressing a pressing matter to clarify the situation and safeguard King Saheed Osupa’s rights.”
“Recently, an individual with a history of causing trouble used King Osupa’s music without permission, failing to acknowledge him as the rightful owner.”
“As King Osupa is signed to Sony Music Publishing Nigeria and represented by DMCE, we are authorized to act on his behalf, protecting his intellectual property rights.
Through advanced technology, we uncovered unauthorized use of King Osupa’s music by several artists.
While DMCE resolved these cases amicably, one individual resorted to cyberbullying, attacks, and reputational damage against King Saheed Osupa.”
“In response, King Saheed Osupa’s management has decided to take legal action to address this violation and prevent future occurrences. We cannot stand idly by while our boss is disrespected.”
The management expressed appreciation for the support of Osupa’s fans and Fuji music lovers, calling for continued solidarity as they take steps to protect the musician’s rights.
