Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has broken her silence regarding gospel singer Tope Alabi’s decision not to perform at her surprise birthday celebration, despite reportedly being paid #3.5 million.
In a video shared online, Anjorin clarified that she is a Muslim and would not have personally chosen a gospel artist for her event. She stated that her fans should have invited an Islamic singer instead.
“I’m a Muslim, and I didn’t expect my fans to bring a gospel singer. They should have invited someone from the Islamic faith who supports me,” she said.
Anjorin also noted that she has no personal reason to invite Tope Alabi, as she already has access to the singer’s songs through her albums. She expressed confusion over why Alabi refused to come out of her car to perform, despite the payment.
She further suggested that the money could have been put to better use, such as helping those in need. She referenced a tragic case of a pregnant woman who died because her husband couldn’t afford hospital bills.
“I already warned my fans to stop wasting money. I thank God I’m alive and healthy. I still don’t understand why she didn’t come down,” she added.
