Residents of Ogun, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom should brace for a three-day heavy rainfall beginning from today.
Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) which made the prediction, added that there would be light-moderate heavy rainfall in Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Imo, Abia and a few other states.
The agency, in a bulletin public yesterday, hinted that flash floods might be witnessed in the states where moderate-heavy rainfall is forecasted.
Adding that strong winds might accompany the rains, it advised the public not to drive through surface runoff waters because of strong undercurrents.
Members of the public were also advised to ‘’disconnect electrical appliances before and not during the rains.”
Other likely hazards, according to the agency, are “Slippery road surfaces and reduced visibility during the rain which can disrupt road traffic.’’
NiMet warned that strong winds constitute threats to weak structures, trees and masts.
