The Ogun State chapter of the Organised Labour has officially suspended its industrial strike action, which began on Monday, July 14, 2025. This decision follows a series of negotiations and engagements with the Ogun State Government, resulting in the signing of a binding Memorandum of Action (MoA).
According to a formal notice issued by Labour leaders, the strike is being suspended to allow time and space for the implementation of the resolutions contained in the signed agreement.
“Following constructive dialogue with the state government and the signing of a Memorandum of Action, the industrial action which commenced on July 14 is hereby suspended,” the notice stated. “This is to give room for the implementation of the agreed actions, as captured in the MoA.”
Effective Tuesday, July 22, 2025, all workers across the state are expected to resume duties.
The Organised Labour thanked its members for their unity and steadfastness during the strike and urged them to return to work in good faith, while assuring that the union will continue to monitor the government’s commitment to the agreement.
Labour leaders also warned that any delay or breach in the implementation of the MoA may result in the resumption of industrial action, as the welfare and rights of workers remain non-negotiable.
The suspension marks a critical step toward resolving long-standing grievances and improving working conditions for civil servants in Ogun State.
