The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily withdrawn access to the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates following the discovery of technical errors during an internal review.
In a press statement released on Thursday, August 7, 2025, WAEC explained that the issue arose from a newly introduced method known as paper serialization, aimed at curbing examination malpractice. The method was used in subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.
However, the council said that during the post-release review, technical bugs were detected, prompting an immediate suspension of result access on the official result checker portal.
“The Council, being a responsive body that is sensitive to fairness and professionalism, has decided to urgently review and correct the technical glitches,” the statement read.
WAEC has assured candidates and the general public that the situation is being handled with urgency and transparency, and that access to corrected results will be restored within 24 hours.
Affected candidates are advised to recheck their results after the update.
The council extended its apologies to all affected students and urged the public to remain patient as efforts to resolve the matter continue.
WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to excellence, fairness, and transparency in all its examination and assessment processes.
