The Magistrate Court sitting in the Ikeja Magisterial District, Ogba, Lagos State, has issued a restraining order against five individuals, Joseph Aloba (father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba), Larry Omodia, Adewale Mariam, Yomi Fabiyi, and Bukky Jesse.
In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Chief Magistrate M. O. Tanimola ordered the respondents to desist from making any public statements, threats, or incitements against Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba (widow of Mohbad) and her son, Liam Aloba.
The order came after counsel to the applicants, O. C. Fasanmi, filed a motion ex-parte dated February 7, 2025, seeking the protection of Wunmi and her son.
According to the ruling, the respondents are required to “show cause” why they should not be compelled to enter into a recognizance with sureties for their good behavior and keeping the peace for a period of one year.
The court further emphasized that the respondents are restrained from broadcasting or making any statements capable of inciting the public against Wunmi and Liam, warning that violations would not be tolerated.
The order must be complied with within 14 days of service, while the case has been adjourned to October 15, 2025, for mention.
This ruling is considered a significant step in ensuring the protection of Mohbad’s widow and son, who have been at the center of heated public controversies since the tragic death of the singer in September 2023.
