U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has highlighted the ongoing violence against Christians in Nigeria, claiming that radical Islamic terrorists have killed over 62,000 Christians in the country since 2000.
In a video shared on X, the Republican lawmaker criticized U.S. Democrats for their perceived silence on the issue, contrasting it with the extensive media coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“You also won’t hear from Democrats about how radical Islamic terrorists are currently carrying out a mass genocide of Christians in Nigeria,” Tuberville said.
“Just this year alone, more than 7,000 Nigerian Christians have been murdered because of their faith alone,” he added
The senator described the ideology behind the attacks as “straight from the pit of hell” and said it has no place in American society.
Tuberville’s comments add to a growing chorus of voices drawing attention to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, joining activists, commentators, and faith leaders who have repeatedly condemned the violence and called for urgent action to protect vulnerable communities.
