In celebration of his first anniversary in office, the Councillor representing Ward 6, Ijebu North Local Government, Hon. Oroyinyin Olawale Nurudeen, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development through consistent empowerment initiatives and tangible community projects across Oke Sopen and its surrounding areas.
Over the past year, Hon. Nurudeen has maintained a monthly stipends programme aimed at supporting ward members and party executives. More than 20 beneficiaries received direct financial support in the latest round of the initiative, a gesture that has strengthened community engagement and provided relief for many households.
One Year, Multiple Achievements
Hon. Nurudeen’s first year in office has been marked by visible projects and interventions tailored to improve the living conditions within the ward. Some of the key achievements include:
1. Concrete Renovation of Drainage at Igbaire, Oke Sopen:
Rehabilitation of the damaged drainage system with concrete reinforcements to curb erosion and ensure better water flow.
2. Scavenger Support Project (Co-sponsored bill with Hon. Issa):
It is a bill designed to curb insecurity and regulate the activities of local scavengers and iron pickers.
3. Clearing and Desilting of Drainage at Abeshin Area:
Intervention aimed at preventing erosion and improving environmental hygiene.
4. Drainage Cleaning at Odomosibi Area:
Regular maintenance to keep waterways clean and reduce flooding risks.
5. Drainage Cleaning at Ajegunle Street, Near Victory Hospital, Oke Sopen:
Another effort to maintain a healthier and safer environment for residents.
6. Support for Youth Football Competitions:
Sponsorship and encouragement of community football tournaments to engage the youth, promote unity, and nurture local talent.
7. Financial Support to Party Executives and Ward Members:
Monthly stipends provided to two party executives and seven members from each of the seven mini wards in Oke Sopen.
8. Scholarships and WAEC Payment for Students:
Educational support through scholarships and payment of WAEC registration fees for deserving students across the ward.
