Oyo State House of Assembly Clarifies Position on Council of Obas and Chiefs Chairmanship

The attention of the Oyo State House of Assembly has been drawn to a publication going viral on social media, where the Alaafin of Oyo, Ikubaba Yeye, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Owoade, Elewu Etu II, was positioned as the permanent chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
We’re here to correct this information. The Oyo State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin, did not affirm the authority of the Alaafin as the sole permanent chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
Rather, the House approved a 2years rotational chairmanship arrangement between the Alaafin of Oyo, Olubadan of Ibadan, and Soun of Ogbomosho.
We, the Oyo State House of Assembly, issue this warning to caution the general public about this misinformation.
There was no approval by the House for the Alaafin to be the sole permanent chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
