There is growing excitement in Ogun State as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) moves closer to starting commercial oil drilling at the Eba Oil Well in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
A technical team from NNPCL visited the site to check its readiness for full operations. The team was led by Hussein Aliyu, Project Coordinator for Enserv, along with other experts.
The visit follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval for commercial drilling in the area. Officials from NNPCL, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and national security agencies were also present to inspect the location and assess preparations.
Governor Dapo Abiodun described the development as a historic moment for Ogun State. He said the project is expected to create jobs, attract federal investment, and boost economic growth, especially in the coastal communities.
With this latest step, Ogun State is set to join Nigeria’s oil-producing regions as the country expands its energy production.
