The Governor of Seyi Makinde has promoted Alago-Oja and 13 other high chiefs to the rank of crown-wearing Obas in Oyo State.
The traditional leaders were officially presented with their instruments of office during a special ceremony organized by the state government.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the governor, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, said the decision shows the government’s strong support for traditional institutions. He added that the move is aimed at strengthening local leadership, promoting peace, and encouraging development at the grassroots level across the state.
The ceremony marked an important moment for the affected communities, as the newly elevated Obas are expected to play greater roles in maintaining unity and supporting government efforts in their respective areas.
