President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police, following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun.
Olatunji Disu is a senior Nigerian police officer born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos Island, Lagos State
Disu is a very experienced police officer with over 30 years of service. He previously served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ago Iwoye, where he became known for his effective policing and connection with local communities.
He has held many important positions, including:
• Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS)
• Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT)
• Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory
• Most recently, AIG in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos
He now takes charge of the Nigeria Police Force at an important time, with high hopes for better security and reforms in the force.
