As part of their commitment to humanity, charity and community service, Kakaki Foundation, in collaboration with MarvelTvUpdates Newspaper & Media, paid a special visit to the Igbeba Correctional Centre in Ijebu-Ode today to support inmates with food items and words of encouragement during the holy periods of Ramadan and Lent.
The initiative was led by the CEO of Kakaki Foundation, Mr. Ridwan Olanrewaju Owoseni, together with the CEO of MarvelTvUpdates Newspaper and Media, Mr. Idowu Ayodeji. The visit was organized to show love, kindness and compassion to inmates who are currently observing fasting and spiritual reflection during these important religious seasons.
During the visit, members of the foundation and the media team met with inmates, shared food support and delivered messages of hope, repentance and encouragement. The team advised the inmates to use their time in the correctional facility to reflect on their lives, learn from their past mistakes and build a better future for themselves when they return to society.
The team members and supporters who accompanied the visit include: Chief Keji Opeyemi (the Otun Babalaje of Oke Sopen), Mr. Ibrahim Owoseni (Western Tio), Mr. Ridwan Oreagba (MC Jerry), Benjamin Sosanya (Bhenjishotit), Mr. Shakiru Sulaiman (Akobonty), Itunu Adebayo and David Oyewole whose presence and support contributed to the success of the outreach.

The management of the correctional centre warmly received the team. The Assistant Controller of Corrections at Igbeba Correctional Centre, Dr. Mustapha, expressed appreciation to Kakaki Foundation and MarvelTvUpdates Newspaper & Media for the thoughtful gesture and the support given to the inmates. He commended the initiative and encouraged the organizations to continue such humanitarian efforts, noting that such programs help inspire positive change and hope among inmates.
During the outreach, the CEO of Kakaki Foundation, Mr. Ridwan Owoseni, spoke to the inmates and advised them to remain hopeful in God, stay positive and use their time in custody to learn valuable lessons. He encouraged them not to lose faith but to prepare themselves for a better life after completing their jail terms.
As part of the visit, the team also moved around the facility, visiting both the mosque and the church located inside the correctional centre, where inmates gather for worship. Some inmates shared emotional and thoughtful stories about how they ended up in prison. Their experiences served as powerful reminders about the consequences of crime and the importance of making good life choices.
This outreach also serves as a strong message to the general public. The foundation emphasized that prison is not a place anyone should wish to be and therefore people should stay away from crime and unlawful activities. Citizens are advised to always respect and obey the laws of the country and avoid ignorance of the law.
The purpose of this initiative is not to promote crime but to create awareness and encourage people outside the prison walls to live responsibly, while also supporting inmates who are seeking a second chance in life. The foundation believes that every human being deserves compassion, guidance and the opportunity to change for the better.
The organizers also expressed deep appreciation to the generous sponsors and supporters who contributed financially and morally to make the outreach possible. The initiative received generous support from several individuals and well-wishers, including Chief Alhaja Balikis Balogun (Yeye Sobaloju of Okesopen), Mr. Olalekan Simon Oluwole (Fecund Empire), Alhaji Azeez Balogun Ogun-Owo), Alhaji Rahman (Baba Ibeji), Mr. Kazeem Tosin (Seun Lala), Alhaja Maryham Alausa, Chief Muhideen Oluwaseun Keji (Yemkej), Hon.
