A developing controversy has emerged over alleged non-compliance with a directive from the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, as community leader and businessman, Olalekan Simon Oluwole, has publicly raised concerns regarding the handling of a petition involving officers of the Ijebu-Igbo Topon Police Division.
In a press statement released under the banner of Fecund Empire, Oluwole alleged that a formal directive issued from the Force Headquarters instructing officers in Ijebu-Igbo to report for investigation has not been obeyed. The directive reportedly followed serious allegations including police brutality, unlawful conduct, intimidation, extortion, and threats to life.
According to the statement, the continued disregard for the order raises “critical questions about accountability, discipline, and respect for due process within the system.” Oluwole emphasized that such directives, especially from the highest authority within the police structure, should not be ignored under any circumstances.
The issue stems from a formal petition submitted through a legal firm, Bode Olaosebikan & Co., addressed to the Inspector General of Police. The petition details alleged misconduct by certain officers attached to the Ijebu-Igbo Police Station, including claims of harassment and assault during an incident that reportedly occurred in December 2025 in Ogun State.

The petition further claims that Oluwole, while traveling with members of his family, was stopped and subjected to what was described as an aggressive and unjustified operation involving armed officers and unmarked vehicles. The situation allegedly escalated into intimidation and forceful actions that caused fear and distress.
Despite the gravity of these allegations and the subsequent directive from Abuja for investigation, Oluwole insists that the officers involved have failed to comply, prompting him to bring the matter to public attention.
“As a law-abiding citizen committed to justice and community development, I remain confident in the integrity of the Inspector General of Police,” he stated, while calling for urgent intervention to ensure compliance and uphold the rule of law.
He further stressed that the matter goes beyond personal interest, framing it as a broader issue of justice, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights across Nigeria.
Observers say the situation, if not promptly addressed, could further intensify public scrutiny on police accountability and adherence to institutional directives within the country.
