The anointed candidate of the former governor of Ekiti State, Chief Bisi Kolawole has been declared winner of the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP held on Wednesday.
Aspirants who contested the elections are, Bisi Kolawole, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Engineer Segun Oni, Professor Kolapo Olusola, Yinka Akerele, Deji Ogunsakin, Lateef Ajijola, Wale Aribisala, Ayodeji Kazeem, Kayode Adaramodu and Aribisala.
Chief Bisi Kolawole was declared winner by the chairman electoral committee of the party, Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state.
He said Bisi Kolawole won the election having scored the highest number of votes cast.
According to him, Bisi Kolawole scored a total of to defeat other contestants, Statistics from the poll include, void votes 13, Adekemi Adewumi 1, Biodun Olujimi, 2, Lateef Ajijola 1, Ayodeji Kazeem, 6, Kayode Adaramodu 10, Professor Kolapo Olusola scored 93, Adewale Aribisala, 56, Segun Oni 330, Bisi Kolawole 671
The election which was held at the Eagle Hall, Ado Ekiti started with accreditation of delegates at the Pope John Paul 2 Pastoral Centre, Ikere Road, Ado Ekiti.
The election was held under a peaceful atmosphere as armed police officers were fully on ground to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
Addressing journalists, the chairman, PDP electoral committee, Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state appreciated party members for their display of maturity and cooperation which led to the success of the poll.
Governor Udom noted that the election was transparent and devoid of any manipulation.
He called on the winner to be magnanimous in victory while those who lost should be strong in defeat.
