Senator Dino Melaye, the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council’s spokesperson, has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission spent more than N400 billion on the presidential election, which he characterized as “a caricature show.”
This was made clear by the spokesperson in a video that the numerous source obtained on Monday night.
In the one moment 45 seconds video, Melaye said that the entire idea of updating the naira was a trickery.
This comes just hours after the PDP leadership, led by Senator Iyorchia Ayu, and other party leaders stormed the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission to protest Bola Tinubu’s declaration as the APC’s presidential candidate for the February 25, 2023 elections.
The results were rejected by the PDP, Labour Party, and New Nigeria Peoples Party, who claimed that the election had been marred by violence, rigging, and lacked integrity because the results were not uploaded to the iRev portal in real time on Election Day, prompting them to call for its cancellation among other things.
The PDP also expressed its disappointment at the “irregularities” discovered during the election process.
Melaye added, “We spent over N400 billion just for a caricature show to ensure that the mandate of the people given freely to Atiku Abubakar is retrieved.” Nigerians were duped by INEC.
Regarding the redesign of the naira, the spokesperson claimed that “the PDP was starved of funds on Election Day because money was given to Bola Tinubu, the APC shared new notes across the country.” The redesign of the naira was a scheme by INEC to deceive Nigerians.
Additionally, he urged all PDP supporters and advocates of democracy throughout the nation to oppose this.
