“Abeg When Did I Talk This One?” — Esther Okoronkwo Debunks False Claim of Decsribing President Tinubu as “Caring, Kind, and Humorous”

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has debunked a viral quote falsely attributed to her by a pro-All Progressives Congress (APC) propaganda page following Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The quote, circulated by the account @RenewedHope2027, claimed the football star described Bola Tinubu as “caring, kind, and humorous,” and suggested that “if you meet him, you’ll definitely fall in love with him.”
Okoronkwo, however, quickly dismissed the statement, responding on social media: “Abeg when did I talk this one?”
The attempt to politicise the Super Falcons’ WAFCON success has sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians criticising the misuse of athletes’ images and voices for political propaganda.
Okoronkwo played a key role in Nigeria’s historic win, and her integrity in setting the record straight has been widely applauded.
