Nigerian Afrobeats singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has reportedly passed away.
News of his death was shared on social media on January 18, 2025, by popular Instagram bloggers Temilola Sobola and Maxi Blog.
Destiny Boy became widely known at a young age. In November 2024, he announced on Instagram that he had welcomed his first child at the age of 20. Earlier, in March 2024, reports also said he proposed to his girlfriend with a diamond ring said to be worth millions of naira.
As at the time of writing, there is no official or confirmed information about the cause of his death. Some blogs have shared different unverified claims that he vomited blood to death. Another one said he died at his native doctor’s (Babalawo) place, but none has been confirmed by family or authorities.
Confirming the sad news, journalist Temilola Sobola wrote:
“Singer Destiny Boy has passed away. May his soul rest in peace 🕊️.”
More details are expected as official confirmation emerges.
