The Nigeria Police Force has approved the creation of three additional Area Commands in Ogun State, with Ijebu Igbo Area Command leading the newly established formations.
The two other newly approved commands are Ikenne Area Command and Ode-Remo Area Command.
This strategic development increases the total number of Area Commands in Ogun State from 13 to 16, aimed at strengthening security architecture, improving police response time, and enhancing effective policing across the state.
According to security sources, the establishment of the new commands is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to bring policing closer to the people, particularly in fast-growing communities and strategic locations within Ogun State.
Residents of Ijebu Igbo, Ikenne, and Ode-Remo have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the presence of full-fledged Area Commands will significantly reduce crime and improve collaboration between the police and local communities.
The new commands are expected to commence full operations once necessary administrative and logistical arrangements are completed.
