Residents of Itale, Oke Ife and Atikori communities along General Hospital Road in Ijebu-Igbo have commended the Councillor representing Atikori Ward 1, Hon. Issa Oladimeji Ayotomiwa, for fulfilling his promise to install a CCTV surveillance camera to protect the community’s electricity transformer from vandals.
The transformer had reportedly been vandalized several months ago, leaving residents without electricity and raising concerns over the safety of critical public infrastructure in the area.
Following the incident, youths in the community approached Hon. Ayotomiwa Issa to seek his intervention. In response, the councillor promised to provide a CCTV surveillance system to help monitor the transformer and discourage further acts of vandalism.
That promise has now been fulfilled with the successful installation of the security camera, a development residents described as a major step toward protecting the community’s electricity infrastructure.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Issa Ayotomiwa said the installation of CCTV cameras across strategic locations in Atikori Ward 1 is part of ongoing efforts to protect public infrastructure and improve community security.
He assured residents that the project would not end with the first installation, revealing that another CCTV surveillance camera would be installed on a transformer along Abraham Adesanya Road.

He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering projects that enhance security, safeguard public facilities and improve the quality of life for residents across Atikori Ward 1.
“This is just the beginning. More CCTV cameras are coming because Atikori must be great again. Today, we are installing another CCTV camera on one of our transformers along Abraham Adesanya Road to further protect our community assets,” the councillor said.
Community members said the project reflects Hon. Ayotomiwa’s commitment to responsive leadership, accountability and the welfare of his constituents. They noted that the CCTV installation will not only improve security around the transformer but also give residents greater confidence that public facilities are being properly protected.
The youths and residents of Itale, Oke Ife and Atikori expressed appreciation to the councillor for keeping his word and responding promptly to their concerns. They described the gesture as a practical example of leadership that listens to the people and delivers on promises.
They also prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom and strength for Hon. Ayotomiwa, expressing hope that he will continue to champion projects that promote development, improve public safety and enhance the well-being of residents across Atikori Ward 1 and Ijebu-Igbo.
