The Councillor representing Atikori Ward 1, Hon. Issa Ayotomiwa Oladimeji, has announced a free basic computer training programme aimed at empowering young people in the ward and preparing them for opportunities in today’s digital economy.
The training, which is designed for youths between the ages of 14 and 20, is part of the councillor’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities and promoting youth development within the community.
According to Hon. Issa Ayotomiwa, leadership goes beyond occupying a position and involves serving the people, creating opportunities and making a positive impact in their lives.
The programme will expose participants to essential digital skills, including:
- Introduction to Computers
- Computer Operation
- Typing Skills
- File Management
Participants will also benefit from free registration, free handouts, experienced trainers, practical training sessions, access to a well-equipped computer laboratory and certificates of completion.

The training is scheduled to hold from August 31 to September 11, 2026, at the ICT Building, Government Technical College, Ijebu-Igbo.
There will be two training sessions daily: 9:00am–11:00am and 12:00pm–2:00pm.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Issa Ayotomiwa stressed the importance of equipping young people with relevant skills that can improve their access to education, employment, entrepreneurship and other opportunities in the digital age.
He encouraged parents, guardians and eligible youths across Atikori Ward 1 to take advantage of the programme, describing youth empowerment as a vital step towards building a stronger and more prosperous community.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing initiatives that would bring meaningful development and opportunities closer to the people of Atikori Ward 1.
“Empowering our youths today is the surest way to build a stronger and more prosperous Atikori tomorrow,” the councillor said.
The initiative is expected to provide participating youths with practical foundational computer knowledge that can serve as a stepping stone to further digital education and skills development.
