OgunTeach Interns Secure Permanent Employment After Completing Two-Year Internship

The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has confirmed the permanent employment of OgunTeach interns who have successfully completed the mandatory two-year internship programme.
The disclosure was made by the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Idowu Onasanya, during the 2026 half-year budget performance assessment of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) by the Ogun State House of Assembly.
Onasanya appeared before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, alongside the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Babatunde Tella and other lawmakers at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to the Permanent Secretary, the Commission has concluded the promotion exercises for teaching service personnel for 2023 and 2024, while preparations are ongoing for the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, subject to approval from the state government.
He further disclosed that preparations had commenced for the 2027 recruitment exercise.
On the OgunTeach programme, Onasanya stated that interns who recently completed the required two-year internship had been absorbed into permanent employment.
He added that another batch of OgunTeach interns expected to complete their internship programme by December would also be considered for permanent employment.
The budget appraisal also featured engagements with the management of Abraham Adesanya ICT Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, led by its Deputy Rector, Dr. Sherifat Akindele, as well as the D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, represented by its Bursar, Mr. Julius Ayodele.
The State Ministry of Forestry and the Forestry Plantation Project (Area J4) were also among the agencies whose budget performance was reviewed by the lawmakers as part of the Assembly’s 2026 half-year assessment.
