High Chief Alhaji Ismail Abiodun Olawale Lawal Abinugbola, the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo and an alumnus of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo, has appealed to political leaders, elected representatives and other influential individuals to support the institution with much-needed infrastructure.
The Oluomo, who also served as the former Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of the institution, made the appeal while calling attention to the challenges facing the polytechnic, particularly inadequate classrooms, lecture halls and other basic facilities needed for effective teaching, learning and accreditation.
According to him, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic remains an important institution to the people of Ijebu Igbo and neighbouring communities, and its infrastructural challenges should receive urgent attention.
He noted that when academic programmes are unable to admit more students because of accreditation requirements and inadequate facilities, it affects not only the institution but also the educational opportunities available to young people in the community.
The Oluomo also acknowledged the contributions of Senator Olamilekan Yayi to educational and infrastructural development across the area, including interventions in primary and secondary schools, road projects and other social amenities.
He, however, appealed to the Senator to consider doing more for Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, particularly by supporting the construction or renovation of classrooms, lecture halls and other essential facilities.
“Only God can reward the good you have done for us, but we are simply asking for more. As Oliver Twist, we are asking for another,” he said.
The appeal was also extended to other elected representatives and political leaders, stressing that the request is not politically motivated but focused on the future of young people and the development of the community.
The Oluomo said properly equipped educational institutions would give young people better opportunities to acquire quality education and compete with graduates from institutions across the country and beyond.
He urged stakeholders not to wait until the institution’s challenges become more serious before taking action.
“Our young people deserve quality education. Our institution deserves proper infrastructure. Ijebu Igbo deserves investment in education.”
He concluded with a call to all stakeholders:
“Please remember Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo. Education is infrastructure for the future.”
