High Chief Alhaji Ismail Abiodun Lawal Abinugbola (MSc), the Oluomo of Ijebu-Igbo and Agbesinga Adinni Akile Ijebu, has clarified the circumstances surrounding the distribution of 40 mattresses donated to healthcare facilities in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.
According to a post on his Facebook page, High Chief Abinugbola explained that the mattresses were initially donated to Ijebu-Igbo General Hospital.
In a statement addressed to the people of Ijebu-Igbo, Abinugbola explained that the mattresses were initially donated to Ijebu-Igbo General Hospital. However, upon delivery, it was discovered that the hospital required only 25 mattresses.
According to him, rather than return the remaining 15 mattresses, the decision was made to extend the gesture to other healthcare facilities in the community, including the Station Health Centre, which also expressed the need for about five mattresses.
Oluomo further stated that he subsequently directed that the remaining mattresses be distributed to other health centres where there was a genuine need.
The Oluomo of Ijebu-Igbo emphasised that the donation was never intended to be shared equally among the various quarters in Ijebu-Igbo, stressing that it was strictly a humanitarian intervention designed to support healthcare facilities based on their actual needs.
He maintained that the primary objective of the donation was to ensure that the resources reached the facilities and people who needed them most.
He expressed appreciation to the people of Ijebu-Igbo for their understanding, reiterating his commitment to supporting the community and contributing to the improvement of healthcare delivery.
