The minister of State for Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, representing the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, in his speech at the 5th and 6th combined convocation of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) on Saturday.
Stressed the need for Nigeria Universities to wake up and begin to work on discovering the COVID-19 vaccines. He said Nigeria universities are supposed to be Centres for discoveries and inventions, where scientists all over the world should come to for help.
He added that the discoveries will help strengthen society’s immune system against the virus.
He also said the present administration is ready to go the extra mile to see this become a reality.
He encourages universities to explore available opportunities by collaborating with industries and development partners to generate other sources of revenue.
Speaking on the issue of security which was raised by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, he said the government is doing all it can to combat it and also urges them to cooperate with the security agents by providing useful information.
