The Nigerian senate says it is sending a delegation to the UK on a solidarity visit to former deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice over their arrest for alleged organ harvesting.
Senate President, Ahmad Lawan announced this decision after a close session that lasted for about forty minutes on Wednesday.
Lawan said the decision to wade into Ekweremadu’s arrest and detention was against the backdrop of a briefing received by the Nigerian High Commissioner to London.
He said the Senate would engage the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nigerian High Commission in London on the arrest of Senator Ike Ekweremadu by the London Metropolitan Police.
Members of the delegation to be drawn from the senate committee on foreign affairs will depart for the UK in two days.
