The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Thursday, honoured Nigerian medalists at various international games, including the Commonwealth Games, for their outstanding performances.
Amusan finished in a time of 12.30s to set a new Games Record and also secure Nigeria’s 10th gold medal. A 2.4 m/s tailwind denied Amusan the chance of breaking the Games Record in the semi-final.
At an event themed Team Nigeria Continentals dedicated to celebrating the country’s win at the 2022 Common Wealth Games and World Athletic Championship, Tobi Amusan received a national.
Those honoured at the event include Tobi Amusan, among other athletes who were gifted N200 million by the President.
An award of recognition was also presented to Amusan by Buhari during a reception for the Nigeria 2022 Commonwealth Contingent in State House, Abuja, on Thursday.
The team members were also awarded National Honours.
